    1. This was big back in the 60’s and 70’s. Along with using baby oil with iodine you added for tanning. Good times.

    2. This goes back to the 60’s & 70’s. Everyone I knew that had blonde or light brown hair did this every summer.

    1. My mom used do it all the time when she was younger and it actually highlighted her hair beautifully 🤷🏼‍♀️

    2. Yeah, but his hair was light in perfect highlights, instead of patches where he squeezed the lemon @@mirinaxo1663

    3. I gotta say I agree. He just did a very generic overall rub in of the lemon. Even if it was the lemon, he would have needed to do pieces.

You only saw a snippet, who’s to say he didn’t focus on certain areas off camera?! You also didn’t see the part where he had to sit on the sun for a couple hours to get the highlights, but we’re to presume that part of the process happened.

  1. “Will you still love me with a bullous eruption…?” took me a second to catch that one lol

  2. Back when I was like 14 I put peroxide just a bottle of peroxide on my hair and blow-dried it in oh boy it fried my hair and my scalp please don’t try this

  3. Same is true for fragrances. Watch where and what (bergamot, lemon, lime) you are putting on your skin.

    1. Yes, actually no fragrances should be used while in direct sun.
Spray a lightly on clothing and never at the beach/boating,etc.

  4. There’s this “hair influencer” Tessa Peay who swears she uses lemons for highlights on her hair. It literally looks professionally done and her hair looks flawless with zero signs of damage. Absolute sus

    1. Oooh yeah! I used to get her videos in my shorts feed all the time. You’re right, it’s complete b.s. She’d also have to be pretty tan if she’s supposedly highlighting her hair with the sun+lemon juice, which she isn’t lol.

  5. Yep,definitely go to a professional hair salon for highlights. I used lemons when I was younger, and they didn’t work and also fried my hair. You live and learn😅😂

    1. You just watched a couple seconds clip, he could’ve focused the lemon juice on certain strands, I’ve seen people do it & it worked.

_”Yes, lemon juice can lighten hair, but it works best on lighter hair tones. Lemon juice contains citric acid, a natural bleaching agent that can gradually whiten hair. It also contains agipenine, a pigment that can give medium brown hair natural blonde tones and lighten blonde hair.”_

_”Lemon juice contains mostly citric acid, a natural bleaching agent that whitens and therefore lightens the hair…”_ -Klorane

_”Using lemon juice alone, however, doesn’t lighten your hair. For this to work, you need to combine lemon juice with sun exposure.”_ – Healthline

_”I reached out to Joe J. Cincotta, PhD from Federici Brands to find out the science behind this lemony hair hack. He explained that the fruit does, in fact, have a lightening effect. “Lemon juice contains 5 percent citric acid, which is a very weak oxidizing agent that absorbs into the hair cortex.” The acid works in tandem with sunlight’s UV rays to activate and accelerate the brightening process.”_ – SELF Magazine

  6. I did it as a teenager. Turned all of my hair blond. Not just highlights. Really harsh on my hair though.

  7. Worked for us back in the day. We were smart enough to just put it on our hair, not bathe in it.

  8. Juice of 1 lemon mixed with a thick conditioner. Comb thru, rinse out when you get home. Did it my teenage years, worked great.

  9. The fact that you know a Lana del Rey song and made that reference right now 😭 feel like my two worlds have collided lol

  10. I found this out the hard way after accidentally squeezing lemon juice on my stomach while eating seafood by the beach. Wish I had known and washed out the lemon more throughly! 😮 Thanks for the great PSA. 👍
