  1. I occasionally get hives. I cannot be out in the sun more than 1 hours without burning and/peeling and getting a rash. I remember telling the school nurse in the 6th grade during field day that the sun is burning me. She told me to go outside, black people don’t get sunburn. I was sent to the hospital a few hours later. She cried and apologized.

  2. Thankyou, I think I am allergic to sunscreen, the sun, some food, chemicals, environmental elements, clothing and my husband said decades ago that I need to live in a bubble. Funny but true. Aging is so difficult.

  3. I burned badly in my early 20’s and since then, I break out in a rash on my chest and arms especially but other areas if bare when in the sun. I don’t have to be out long either, 15 minutes or so. I don’t break out on my face. I also don’t break out in a rash with sunscreen, but also staying in the shade as much as possible and wearing as much clothing as practical.

  4. My daughter had a severe stye and needed 2 rounds of Doxycycline late winter/early spring coinciding with our family taking a trip to California for spring break. A perfect storm! She was so miserable for weeks. Even when we came home, any amount of sun caused a severe reaction. Her skin seems to be back to normal now. But the whole situation was unfortunate and should have been completely avoided. Learn from our mistake!

  5. Thank you for addressing this! My daughter gets allergic reactions to sun exposure at the onset of every summer.

  6. Omg- thank you for doing this video. Mostly to provide knowledge that there are others out there that have this! I break out in painful and itchy welts with sun exposure- my family thinks I’m being dramatic! I am Going to watch your other videos because I live in the south and do medical missions trips in the Caribbean several times a year which really triggers it!

  7. I was diagnosed as “allergic to the sun” on my arms at 5 years old. My mother took it very seriously.😮

  8. The sun & I are not friends. I got PMLE in 2016 & your video then was the top Googled video including THE BEST explanation (besides Mayo & Cleveland) Clinic). I’ve worn sunblock daily since then. I also have Rosacea, which hates heat & sun. I use sunblock shirts, hats , tinted windshield…the works. Thank you Dr. Suarez for having the best evidence based info on the ‘net!❤❤❤

  9. Thank you for this video! My sun allergy comes out immediately, literally 30 seconds in the sun and I have a horrible rash. Someone once asked what the heck is on my arms and my mom had to explain I have a really bad sun allergy.

  10. As someone with systemic lupus, I try to avoid the sun as much as possible, which can trigger a flare up with extreme joint pain. I don’t get rashes like some with the condition do. I do remember getting heat rash as a child. Just ordered two long sleeve spf tees. Will be my first time trying such a thing. Of course I wear sunscreen. Thanks for the info, Dr Dray! Happy Tuesday!! I hope you have a blessed evening. 💛

  11. Thank you!! Great video! As a kiddo I grew up always having rashes on my arms. It was horrible. It wasn’t until I finally went to a dermatologist as a grown up that I was diagnosed with being “allergic to the sun”. It was so great to finally have a diagnosis! And feel empowered with a plan. My kids tease me and call me a vampire because I avoid strong sunlight and always slather myself with sunscreen, wear long sleeves, a hat, and sunglasses.🧛‍♀️ But gotta do what works!

    1. Me too! I feel like I look like I’m going on a spy mission with how much I have to cover up just to mow the yard.

  12. Please make a video on NAD supplementation 🙏 people swear the science supports its anti aging effects

  13. OMG. OMG. I’m jumping in my living room going: Yes! Someone is talking about it! Someone is talking about it finally!

  14. My neighbor’s daughter was helping him outside grill a meal that involved citrus 🍊 and she inadvertently wiped her hands on the back of her legs (she was in her bathing suit) and she developed a severe, painful rash that eventually scabbed over-it was horrific for her!!! Don’t mess with citrus 🍋‍🟩 and the sun folks!

  15. This is me! I break out in terrible rashes on my forearms, backs of my hands, neck & chest. It’s so painfully itchy 😩 People think I’m just making it up. Thank you for this video. I feel seen ❤
